streamlining grain commodity delivery tracking with a custom app
Project Overview
Cogdill Farm Supply, based in Dunlap, IA, needed a better way to track grain deliveries like soybean and corn. Their paper-based system was slow, manual, and lacked GPS tracking to verify delivery locations. This led to potential errors and financial losses.
The Solution
I collaborated with my team at bluespace creative to build a custom app to replace their paper process. It allowed truck drivers to log deliveries via a mobile app, even in offline areas. The system included GPS tracking to ensure accuracy and admin controls for monitoring deliveries.
The app was built using ReactJS, NextJS, Supabase, and BootstrapCSS.
Additional Features
After the initial launch, Cogdill requested new features, including:
- Auto-suggest for customer names as drivers typed
- Lookup of previous bin locations for faster data entry
- Email delivery confirmations sent to customers
Results
The app transformed Cogdill’s delivery workflow, making it faster and more reliable. Pleased with the results, they returned to have us build a similar app for their propane delivery service.
My Role
I was tasked with technical development, UI/UX design, and testing, working closely with the client to ensure the app met all their needs.
